Life in Tanzania went into nuetral for a great part of the day. Like every other morning, everyone is at the breakfast table early and enjoy eating together. Rob spends the morning in his study, while the kids play and Kara works around the house. Rob is visited by a couple men in the church. The day is slow-paced and relaxing. Sometime in the afternoon the electricity goes out for the first time since I arrived. A roast is in the oven (first one they have had in eight months), so Rob goes to work on the generator with some replacement parts I had brought from his home church. A couple of the key parts are too small, but just when we are ready to ask the Sanders for help, the electricity kicks back on...not too bad at all. Rob teaches at the Bible Institute for a couple hours in the afternoon and then we visit a family in the church. This evening we enjoy a wonderful roast beef meal and relax watching a little European soccer (Ajax vs. Arsenal at the Amsterdam Cup for fans. Arsenal buries one in the net at the 87th minute mark to win). All-in-all a good day. I'll just include a couple photo albums with this post.
The first is of the orphanage project at Tumaini. You can see the construction is moving rapidly along. Next week trusses will be constructed on the staff house and children's residence (by the way, there were two of us on that bike going out to Tumaini, DMD).
The second is of the Howell's home. You can see several views of their residence, the guest house, and the huts for visiting teams.
The bike was under repair when I was there, so I missed the ride. Come to think of it, it would have been back under repair if I rode on the back of that thing, so it is a good thing I missed the ride.
The ride to Tumaini is just the warm up--I want you to ride with Rob to Nyakaliro!

I see OSHA hasn't been a problem at the orphanage. No hard hats, visitors walking around the project (Rob), no saftey glasses. The house looks great. Talk to you in a couple hours.

DMD, THAT ride is planned for Wednesday morning and back on Friday--should be a good trip. We've got to get the brakes fixed on the bike, however. Today we had no front brakes and had to push it to get the engine to crank.
Tom, Thank God for small things! Good to chat today, sorry about the crack-up at the beginning. We had been at it for ten hours and Rob got me laughing...it could have been much worse. I'll explain later.

Jon, I see you use the "Flintstone's" method for stopping. FEET! It's one thing to put your Trust in God, and it's another to really put your Trust in God!
"Ok, Lord! I know I am riding on the bike with no brakes, so I pray You keep me safe"!
Yup! I believe (correct me if I am wrong) that God EXPECTS us to have SOME common sense!

Well, we're trying to get a part by Wednesday to make the ride. We'll see if it happens or not. If we can't get the front brakes fixed, we'll use our common sense and hop on public transporation.
